I was not concerned with paying my bills and helping to support my family.  The thought of that situation breaks my heart.  When I learned about The Pink Fund, I knew I had to help in any way that I could. My diagnosis has helped me to appreciate and value who I am, the numerous friends and family I have and the importance of helping those in need!

About LeaAnn Pugh

I've chosen to look at breast cancer as an event in my life that offered me the chance to view the world and my place in it a little differently than I had previously.  The initial shock of the diagnosis was terrifying, but I was so very fortunate to have found it early and therefore my treatment was fairly simple.  I have a wonderful job and my coworkers always made sure that I was able to go to my daily radiation treatments on time.  My friends and family were an endless source of support and love that most definitely carried me when I was feeling low.  This diagnosis has convinced me to be a voice for breast cancer screening.  My diagnosis and treatment could have been completely different if I had not gotten my mammogram.  It's easy to put it off and regard it as a nuisance, instead of seeing it as a very important part of self care.  I also recognize that many women do not share my experience with breast cancer.
